The purpose of this circular is to notify in advance the operators and users that Bahrain has begun the transition process to change the identification of PBN instrument flight procedure approach charts from RNAV to RNP.

Amendment 8 to the Procedures for Air Navigation Services — Aircraft Operations (Doc 8168, PANS-OPS) and the ICAO Circular 353.

Summary of chart identification modifications/changes are as follows:
The new PBN approach charts will be identified as RNP in accordance with the new chart identification. The changes to the identification of the existing charts published in Bahrain AIP are as reflected in Appendix A.

The changes to the chart identification will not affect aircraft navigation requirement on the final approach segment.
Transition Plan
The transition plan would be carried out in two phases. Phase 1 would be through the publication of an AIP CIRCULAR by the fourth quarter of 2022 and Phase 2 (effective implementation) by the first quarter of 2023. Details of the charts impacted in this transition plan are listed in Appendix A.
Cancellation
